Around the Town
Dear Jane-Marie,
portrait
Seeing as we just lost all sense of green in the past 24 hours, this month's newsletter will allow you to hang on to color for a little while longer.  The last 2 color trends from Sherwin Williams are robust and exciting.  Be on the cutting edge of 2015 and get a head start incorporating these trends into your fashion or home decor.

Also included is one final request from me asking you to VOTE for Embellishments for Best Interior Designer of Southwest Metro through Southwest Metro Magazine.  Voting closes 11/15!  Check out my last section of the newsletter for rules, or click here for more info.  Thank you again for your continued
support - YOU are the reason this job is so fun!

Sincerely,

Spotlight Trends of the Month
One of the best parts about Fall in my business is when one of your favorite product lines gets picked up by a showroom here in Minneapolis.  That means samples to sit in, finishes to view - no more drooling from afar at an internet pic.  Here are 2 lines that will be available soon at Francis King, Ltd. at IMS.

palu copley bed Palu is a moderately priced line known to provide "traditional with a twist" furniture.  The four poster bed style is going strong - if your room size can handle it, go for it!

Few furniture lines seem to have as much fun reinterpreting high end furniture as does this boutique line out of New York.  The trend toward Asian-inspired pieces is still going strong and these guys are all over that.  A great resource for the more linear lamp styles hitting the market as well as the painted pieces every room needs in order to make a room sophisticated or playful.

Watch for these trends in the next few months:

Top Tip of the Month - Final 2 Color Trends of 2015
A recent project and the new fabric lines I'm seeing come to mind when I learned of the last two color trends from the Sherwin Williams ColorMix 2015.

We recently finished a funky master bedroom complete with a custom headboard, 2 different nightstands, quirky wallcovering and more.  The muse for the project was a wonderful print the hubby had given my client.  My client worried that it would be too limiting but when I consider the riotous nature of the Unrestrained Trend for 2015, I realize how it openedup so many possibilities.  The idea of layering pattern and medium (from geometrics to the written word) gave this design the funkiness it needed.  It also allowed us to bring in elements that gave the look a mature identity so that it didn't become too child-like.  Primary colors are not for  preschoolers anymore.  Go bold AND go home!

This room captures the Unrestrained Trend which is infused with the bohemian spirit of ethnic-inspired crafts and colors (as well as the stark combo of black & white).  Major influencers include the bohemian fashion and travel location trends of Gypset.com, furniture by Florian Schmid & Bokja Design, & fabrics/wallcoverings by Kristen Morkel.

For the last color trend, Buoyant, you might have to dig in your closet for those Forenza flower jeans or that cabbage rose shirt from 1988.  Optimism is the operative word here - what a great way to step into the new year!  Bold, happy florals and the greens of the rain forest inspire these colors.  If you think about nature as an influencer, I think of the word "growth" - we are looking for growth in the economy, growth in our perspective as we "turn over a new leaf" - hopefully, we can keep the preservation of nature a key element in the growth of these things as well!  Other influencers include 3-dimensional fabrics/wallcoverings by Ellie Cashman, botanical fabrics/wallcoverings by Josef Frank & vertical forests.
